TV Classic Westerns Volume 1

TV Classic Westerns, Volume 1

TV Classic Westerns, Volume 1...'TV Classic Westerns, Volume 1' includes these episodes: 'Bat Masterson'- Formerly officer of the law, Bat Masterson (Gene Barry), travels throughout the West with merely a gun and a concealed sword housed in an elegant gold embossed cane. Historically Bat Masterson - whose real name was William Bartley Masterson - was the deputy of legendary Wyatt Earp. The documented, as well as imagined exploits of this real-life figure sparked the creation of the television character and the subsequent series. Includes 2 Episodes: 'The Fighter' and 'Stampede At Tent City'. The Rifleman' - An account of a widowed homesteader living in North Fork, New Mexico, who is called upon to help the local sheriff when he is unable to bring crooks and outlaws to justice. 'The Rifleman,' Lucas McCain (played by ex-baseball hero Chuck Connors), literally the fastest gun in the West, is allegedly able to squeeze off a shot in less than three-tenths of a second, which in a confrontation is quite an advantage. Includes 2 Episodes: 'Outlaws Inheritance' and 'Mail Order Groom'. Death Valley Days' - An anthology in which twenty fresh episodes were produced annually and that was hosted by a litany of stars including: Stanley Andrews, Ronald Reagan, Robert Taylor, Dale Robertson, and Merle Haggard. Includes 2 Episodes: 'Dear Teacher' and 'Sego Lillies' 'Wagon Train' - This well-loved Western reached the number two spot for a television series three years in a row, and by the fourth year, it clinched a first place rating. The show revolved around a wagon train traveling from Missouri to California, featuring various guest stars through the years. Includes 1 Episode: 'The Dr. Denker Story' 'Stories Of The Century' - A 1950's syndicated television show that won an Emmy(R) Award for the best Western of adventure series of 1954. The series revolved around a duo of detectives, Matt Clark (Jim Davis) and Frankie Adams (Mary Castle), sent to protect the Southwestern Railroad from evildoers.... Mesmerized

Mesmerized

Mesmerized...Victoria wanted to experience the world outside her orphanage. Oliver wanted a wife and family. Now she is being tried for his murder. What really happened? Academy Award Winner Jodie Foster (Victoria) is brilliant as a young woman trapped in a marriage to a deranged, possessive businessman, John Lithgow (Oliver). Victoria's life with Oliver has become so unbearable that she finds comfort in the arms of another man. This is a beautifully filmed story of passion and deception with a shocking climax. Jodie Foster has never been better.

    Mikado Full Frame

    Mikado (Full Frame)

DVD, 90 minutes, JANUS FILMS...As an operetta, 'The Mikado' was the culmination of Gilbert & Sullivan's work--the tale of Japanese prince Nanki-Poo, who is on the run from an arranged marriage, masquerading as a balladeer. He falls in love with Yum-Yum, a woman betrothed to the Lord High Executioner, who has problems of his own--his job (and life) depends upon at least one execution taking place each month, but he's without a current prospect for the ax. Nanki-Poo agrees to be executed if he is allowed to marry Yum-Yum so that he will have a month of romantic bliss, and a comedy of errors ensues, all sparked by classic songs such as 'A Wandering Minstrel I' and 'Three Little Maids from School.'....
